Scripture Alone
The Bible is God’s Word, plenary and inspired by the Holy Spirit, and is our sole authority for faith and practice.
(II Peter 1:20 – 21, 3:14 – 16; I Timothy 3:16 – 17)
The Triune God
God is One, and is eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are equal in essence and attributes, yet distinct in office and activity.
(Deut. 6:4; John 14:11 – 17)
God the Father
The Father is the infinite personal Spirit, perfect in all His attributes. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign Ruler of all things through His Son Jesus Christ. He is the Head of Christ and the Sender of the Holy Spirit into the world.
(Romans 16:25 – 27; I Corinthians 8:5 – 6)
God the Son
Jesus Christ the only begotten Son of God. He preexisted with the Father
from all eternity and is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, is fully human, and yet sinless. Jesus Christ died as the propitiation for our sins that His elect might escape the just wrath of God and have life, was resurrected bodily from the dead. Jesus sits at right hand of God the Father as the High Priest of believers and intercedes on their behalf. Jesus will return as the personal, visible, glorious Son of Man. His imminent, pre-millennial return to earth is fixed by the Father and will bring Jesus’ kingdom to fulfillment. He will then judge the righteous and the unrighteous and rule forever.
(John 3:16; John 1:1; Colossians 1:13 – 20; Matthew 1:22 – 23; I Timothy 2:5; I John 2:2 – 3; Hebrews 4:14 – 16; I John 2:1 – 2; Romans 3:21 – 26, 5:6 – 11; I Corinthians 15:3 – 5; Matthew 24:29 – 36; John 5:22 – 29)
God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the personal Spirit of truth. He came into the world from the Father at Jesus Christ’s behest. He convicts the unregenerate of unbelievers and brings them to repentance. He also indwells believers and empowers them to testify of Jesus and His gospel.
(John 14:16 – 17, 16:5 – 11; Acts 1:4 – 8)
Mankind
Man is made in the image of God and was originally sinless and pure. But he sinned in Adam (seminally) as the natural head of the race and is now sinful by nature and by choice and is therefore in need of salvation.
(Genesis 1:27, 2:16 – 17, 3:17 – 24; Romans 3:23)
Church Ordinances
The ordinances of the Church are only two in number:
Baptism
Immersion of the believer in water, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, thus symbolizing the believer’s previous experience of regeneration through faith and his union in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as set forth in Scripture.
(Matthew 28:19 – 20, Acts 2:37 – 38)
The Lord’s Supper
Instituted by Christ being a memorial of his atoning sacrifice. In partaking of the bread and the cup, Christ’s disciples are to remember his sacrifice on the cross of Calvary as He gave His body and shed His blood for our sins.
(I Corinthians 11:23 – 26)
Salvation
We believe that sinners are saved by God’s grace alone because apart from His grace we do not have the ability to please Him, earn His favor or come to Christ. This salvation comes through faith in Christ alone and His perfect work on the cross, apart from any human merit, works or ritual.
